The Church of the Carmelites

Mahadev Temple

It is made in Yadava style of architecture with all required parts like Garbh Grih, Mukhamandapa, mini shrines etc. The impressive carved wall near the entrance attracts the tourist. The Mahadev temple located along the banks of River Surla at Tambdi Surla in Sanguem was constructed in the early 13th Century. The temple peak has Lord Brahma facing South, Lord Vishnu facing West and Lord Mahadev facing north.

Reis Magos Church

Location: in town of Reis Magos, Goa

This Church was built on the ruins of an old Hindu temple. This is one of the three places where the elite buffet of the three wise men is held. This is dedicated to three characters of the Christmas; Melchior, Caspar, Balthazar. The entrance of the church is painted in white color that is easily visible from across the river in the capital city of Goa, Panjim. The interiors of this are very fascinating that numbers of devotees come to pray here. On the 6th of January every year, this story is enacted by the local youths and the festival is called the Festa dos Reis Magos.

Shri Devaki Krishna Temple

Location: Town of Panaji(17 kilometers)
Dedicated To: Devaki and Krishana
Famous festival: Malin Purnima (January/February)

This temple is established beside the Banastari Bridge. The statue of this temple is of Devaki Mother with Lord Krishna which depicts the love of mother for her child. The Garbha Griha contains the beautiful idol of Devaki and Lord Krishna. The deity is the idol of Devaki is in standing posture with a child Krishna, sitting astride her. This is one of the rare sculptures found in India. Dona paula, Aguada Fort, Bondla Forest, Sri Mahalaxmi Temple etc are the other tourist spots around this temple.

The Church Of Our Lady of the Rosary

Location: Old Goa, 10 kilometers from Panaji.
Built By: Afonso de Albuquerque (1544)

The architecture of the church of Our Lady of the Rosary is in the form of Cruciform with a square apse. The church has a square apse and just above the main entrance you will see the church choir gallery. Enter inside the church; here you can see two chapels and three altars. In the decoration of the church, you will observe a distinct Hindu influence. The roof of the church is tiled, supported by wooden rafters. The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is one of the first churches to be constructed in Goa.
