Kanha Tour

Kanha Tiger Reserve is an internationally renowned National Park of Central India. It is located in ‘Maikal’ ranges of eastern base of triangular Satpura range in Central Indian Highlands of Madhya Pradesh State of India. It falls under Mandla & Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh. Earlier in 1972, when Project Tiger program was initiated in India by government to protect Royal Bengal Tigers, nine tiger reserves were established in different states of India. Among those nine tiger reserves, Kanha National Park was one of them. Tiger Reserve covers area of 1949 sq. km. in total which comprises core zone (National Park) of 940 sq. km. and buffer zone (Multiple use area) of 1009 sq. km. Kanha National Park is known for its distinguished flora & fauna. Kanha National Park was created on 1-June-1953 by combining two wildlife sanctuatires, Hallon and Banjar. Actually Hallon & Banjar are two prominent river of Kanha National Park around which whole national park was flourished.

At present one can enter into core zone of Kanha National Park through three gates: Khatia, Mukki and newly introduced Sarhi Garte. Among them Khatia gate is the oldest entry gate of Kanha National Park. Park remains open for Tourists from 1st October to 30th June but dates may vary as per decision of Forest Department.

General Information

Best time to visit: October to April, Park Remains Closed from 01 July to till 15 October.

Food: Basic thali style food is available in the park and surrounding regions and cool drinks and beer are usually available.

By Air: Nagpur is the nearest airport 266 kms from Kanha National Park.

By Train: Jabalpur at 169 kms serves as the nearest railway station.

By Road: By road this park can be reached from Mukki (25 kms), Jabalpur (175 kms) and Nagpur (266 kms).

Itinerary

Duration: 03 Days/03 Nights

Places to visit: Jabalpur - Kanha - Jabalpur

Day 1: (Jabalpur - Kanha)

On arrival at Jabalpur, Indus Excursion representative will meet you and provide all travel related documents and give small brief of tour. Later surface drive to Kanha National Park via Mandla tribal town. Just before reaching Mandla town, we will stop at Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department restaurant for guest's refreshment. Here one can have tea/coffee, relax a little bit and then continue the drive towards Kanha Park. On reaching resort, retire into your resort room. Rest of the time can be spent on local village visit or doing bird watching in resort campus. Overnight stay at resort in Kanha.

Day 2: (Kanha National Park)

Wake-up with morning wake-up call and get ready for Morning park safari. Safari jeep will pick you up from resort itself and take to the forest for safari. Similarly attend evening park safari. All the safaris are with trained guide. Do not forget to carry water-bottle, hat, sun-glasses, camera with sufficient memory, binoculars to grasp everything. Overnight at resort in Kanha.
 
Day 3: (Kanha National Park)

Again follow the yesterday's routine and enjoy both morning & evening park safaris. On this day follow different route to discover the uncovered forest areas. Overnight at resort in Kanha.

Day 4: (Kanha - Jabalpur)

This day we will again do morning park safari as the last one in Kanha Park. Later on return, wind-up your luggage and drive back to Jabalpur city to conclude the short-trip.
