Best time to visit: Between March to October

Culture: The city is the gem of the northeastern region of India with rich Culture of Gangtok. Culture of Gangtok is diversified. Local culture and that from other parts of India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan are also included in the Culture of Gangtok. There are many Festivals In Gangtok that are celebrated by the locales of the city with zeal and dedication.

Food: Momo, Thupka, Saelroti, Chhurpi, Kinema, Bamboo Shoot, Sishnu Soup, Chaang etc.

Top Hotels: Hungry Jack, Mandarin Residency, Rendezvous, Rumtek Dzong, Tashi Delek, The Oriental, The Royal Plaza etc.

Shopping: You can buy tibetan handicrafts like carpets, blankets, shawls, masks and other traditional crafts.

Climate: Average maximum temperature in summer (March to June) is 22°C and an average minimum temperature in winter (December to February) is 4°C.

How to Reach

By Air: Bagdogra Airport, near Siliguri (West Bengal), is the nearest airport. From Bagdogra, you can take a local cab, which will take over five-six hours to reach Gangtok or go for a 20-minute helicopter ride to reach the capital.

By Train: The nearest railhead is in New Jalpaiguri near Siliguri.

By Road: National Highway no. 31 serves as a connecting link between Gangtok and Siliguri.

Itinerary

Duration: 4 Days/3 Nights

Places to visit: Bagdogra - Gongtok - Gangtok Sightseeing - Gangtok - Bagdodra

Day 1: (Arrival at Bagdogra)

On the arrival at the New Bagdogra airport you will drive you to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok hotel.

Day 2: (Gangtok Sightseeing)

After breakfast proceed for the sightseeing of Gangtok covering directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Enchey Monastery, Research Institute of Tibetology, Chorten (Stupa), Orchid Sanctuary, Rumtek Monastery, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok & Tashi View Point. Return back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: (Gangtok Sightseeing)

After breakfast proceed for the sightseeing of Thshangu Lake and Baba Mander, rest of the day free at Leisure. Return back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: (Gangtok - Bagdodra)

After breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to the Bagdogra airport for your own destination.
