Kaziranga National Park

The Kaziranga National park is the safest habitat of wild buffalos and other flora and fauna which is located in the Assam state of India. This national park stretches over an area of 430 square kilometers in very heavy rain fall and situated on the bank of Brahmaputra River of Nagaon district of Assam. There are around 300 species of birds which increase the prettiness of this national park. In 1940, the Kaziranga declared as a sanctuary of Assam of western India. This national park is the most visited and popular national park of India where numbers of international tourists come to visit here. General Information

Best time to visit: November to April

Flora: The flora in Kaziranga National Park is presented in three major types: alluvial inundated grasslands comprising of tall thickets of elephant grass and short grasses, tropical wet evergreen forests and tropical semi-evergreen forests.

Some important Fauna are as follows:

Mammals: Wild Buffalos, Indian Elephants, Indian Rhino, Tigers and the herds of Wild Elephants, swamp deer, Chinese pangolins, Bengal foxes, gibbons, civets, sloth bears, leopards and flying squirrels amongst either.

Birds: Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Black-Shouldered Kite, Blue-breasted Quail, Himalayan Griffon, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, Oriental Honey Buzzard, White Tailed Eagle etc.

Reptile: Spiny- tail lizard, snakes that include the deadly viper and krait.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport of Kaziranga national park is Jorhat which is 90-kms and 300 kilometers far from the Jodhpur. Guwahati, the major airport in the region lies at a distance of about 215 Km.

By Rail: The nearest railhead from Kaziranga National Park is Furkating, situated at a distance of about 75 Km.

By Road: Assam roadways and private buses stop near the Kaziranga Park on their way to and from Guwahati, Tezpur and Upper Assam.
